Macintosh Blades Fiber Optic Acrylic, Metallic

Art # confirmed with quotation

The Macintosh is a curved blade. Its tip sits in the vallecula and lifts the epiglottis indirectly, which is why it remains the everyday choice for most adult intubations.

  • ISO 7376 green-system hook-on fitting
  • Acrylic light guide carries light to the tip
  • Single-use: one patient, no reprocessing
  • Available under your own brand

Overview

About this product

Intended use

Used to view the larynx and vocal cords and to assist tracheal intubation, by trained healthcare professionals in anaesthesia, emergency and critical care.

Single-use, metallic construction with an acrylic light guide. Each blade is used for one patient and then discarded, which removes reprocessing from the workflow.

Available sizes, article numbers and packing quantities are confirmed with every quotation. Private-label and OEM versions can be produced on request.

How it works
The light source sits in the handle. When the blade is opened onto the handle and locks in the working position, the light comes on and travels through the acrylic light guide to a window near the tip. The blade carries no bulb and no electrical contacts.
The Macintosh pattern
A curved blade. The tip goes into the vallecula, in front of the epiglottis, and lifting the blade raises the epiglottis indirectly to bring the vocal cords into view. It is the pattern most used for adult intubation.
Where it is used
Emergency departments, ambulances, wards and infection-control settings, where a new device for every patient removes the reprocessing step and the risk of cross-contamination between patients.
What to tell us when you order
The pattern and sizes you need, quantities per size, the handle system your department uses, and whether the blade and packaging should carry your brand.

Safety

Single-use safety

Warning — do not reprocess single-use blades.

Single-use devices are made for one patient. Reprocessing can damage the light guide or the blade surface and cannot be validated, so the device is used once and then disposed of as clinical waste under local rules.

Before use, check the pack is intact, fit the blade to the handle and confirm the light is on and steady.
